Shorecliffs Wins NSSA Interscholastic National Championships!

View pictures HERE
Although it is not official until the awards banquet, it appears Shorecliffs has nailed another NSSA National Championship Title!  The surf was small and there were some early round upsets for the team, but they kept their focus and out pointed a determined Sowers and Kapaa Intermediate.  In Longboard, Eli Gillis definitely won first with total domination of the final heat.  In girls Tara Franz and Charlotte Shanahan both made the final against some heavy competition including Kapaa's Melia Manuel and Leila Hurst who is a home schooled hawaiian.  Tara got called on a questionable paddling interference, but I think, managed a 4th place finish.  Charlotte was right behind her in a probable 5th place.  The boys final was the Kolohe and Ian show.  Kolohe dominated the north peak, while Ian owned the point.  I am pretty sure they went 1st and 2nd, but I'm not sure what order.  We'll have to wait 'til the banquet to find out!  Great job to all the surfers and Coach Hennings for another undefeated season! Thanks to Billabong and all of our sponsors! Thanks to IZZE Beverage Company for the endless supply of cold, delicious, nutritious IZZE soda!
The 2007 NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP AWARDS BANQUET is
July 1 at 6:00pm at the Laguna Cliffs Marriott, Dana Point.  The festivities will start with a 5:00 pm reception and then dinner served at 6:00 pm.  Guest reservations must be purchased through the NSSA.  All team members who surfed in Nationals are paid for for the banquet.  If parents or guests would like to come, please make sure they purchase tickets through NSSA.

Ian Crane Takes the Win at Rip Curl Grom Search!
Our own Ian Crane took first in the 14 and under division of the Rip Curl Grom Search held June 16 & 17 at 9th Street in HB.  This was a tough competition as 45% of the entries were from the Hawaiian kids here to surf NSSA Nationals.  This certainly bodes well for Shorecliffs at Nationals!  Congratulations Ian.  Watch the action on Surfline.com HERE
